Departments

Front Office

The front office or reception is an area where visitors arrive and first encounter a staff at a place of business or the core operations department of the hotel.

Housekeeping

Four one week we are attached with the regular staff of the housekeeping department. After completing one week we are left by ourself to do the room cleaning and evening turndown service. We are made to do 16 day shift called split in the housekeeping department. Every morning from 6:am to 12:pm we have to clean both check out and in house room. From 12:pm to 6:pm we are free to go home. At exact 6:30pm we have to start evening turndown service till 9:30pm.   We also worked in the public area for 5 days. Here the morning shift or duty start from 5:am till 2:pm. THE EVENING SHIFT START FROM 2:PM TTILL 11:30PM. Here our responsibility is to clean the rest room and have to put the restroom aminities like hand cream, hand wash, hand towel and tissue paper. After that we have to clean the lobby area,bar and courtyard. At around 10;30 am we have to start cleaning the restaurant. We have to frequently clean or check the guest restroom. In the evening service our responsibility is to frequently check the guest restroom and have to see around. Exactly at 9:30pm we have to clean the human resource(HR) office and it should be cleaned within 30 minthes. .   When it comes to laundry the morning duty start from 7:am to 4:pm and the evening duty start from 12:pm to 9:30pm. Our responsibility is to switch on the machine and sort out all the uniforms and lineans. After finished the lineans and uniforms we have to start ironing the cloths. Eventhough  the housekeeping work is a tiring we got experiemce which we know will be helpful in our future carrer.

Kitchen

In Como UAM PARO, kitchen department was divided into four sections. 1.      Hot Kitchen It is place where western, Indian and Bhutanese cuisine. 2.      Cold Kitchen It is a place where salad and freshly squeeze juice are prepared. 3.      Pastry Freshly baked breads, cookies and varieties of dessert are prepared in pastry. 4.      Stewards Area Play important role in kitchen because in this area steward are responsible for washing the restaurant dishes and all the kitchen utensils, as well as cleaning all the larger items of kitchen equipment and the food production areas.   Culinary Adventure with COMO UMA PARO Guest can enjoy one hour Bhutanese cooking class, using techniques and ingredients native to the Himalayan country. Where guest can visit local vegetable market to find fresh and seasonal ingredients.   While doing internship in kitchen department under experienced and knowledgeable chef we learn how to: ·         Prepare and cook food using variety of cooking techniques. ·         Learn to make different type of ice-cream. ·         Learn to make different type of bread.

Experience that i got from COMO UMA paro

Staff  were so friendly and good to us. they treat us like brothers and sister. During our stay at COMO UMA we got lots of tips and got opportunities to interact with different kind of guests. They always send us front and we never stayed behind of back of the house. We enjoyed a lot within three months.IN future if we get chance to do work at UMA we dont need much guide in every field because we already handled lots of responsibilities by our self.
